Thus Quoth the Raven…Nevermore…

Had a lot of fun today. It was my dad’s seventy-fifth birthday, and we all congregated at their house for lunch. Everyone was there, which was a lovely afternoon. My mom had picked up this little game called Joe Name It. We didn’t play it according to the rules, but it was a lot of fun. I may have to get me a set of the cards…after I dispose of some of the games I DON’T play around here.

After the party, I invited my darling husband out to dinner, and he suggested we go to The Alamo Drafthouse and kill two birds with one stone. I’ve been dying to see The Raven ever since I first heard about it, because I really love John Cusack, and it was showing at the newest Drafthouse, which is also  the closest to our house. Nice theater. A little hard to get into the parking lot, but practice makes perfect.

As for the film…I really enjoyed it. I thought the acting was very well done, and I couldn’t figure out who the killer was until said killer was revealed. My only quibble was the song that they put at the end over the credits, because it totally blew away the mood established in the movie, but I assumed they wanted a song that might get an Oscar nomination. I would definitely recommend it if you like a good puzzle, though there is a fair amount of gore here and there — nothing like your usual horror movie though.

That will do it for today. See y’all in the morning.
