Don’t Count the Years Just Count the Way…

It was a lovely party this afternoon…though there were some trials and tribulations along the way. Like we decided to take Sunshine with us. And before we got five miles from the house, the lens holder on one side of my glasses snapped loose at the nosepiece. So I was effectively rendered about as blind as a bat. Went to Wal-Mart, and they would have sold me something jury-rigged, but I couldn’t see spending $69 for a pair of frames that didn’t even fit the lenses as a stop gap.

When we got to Georgetown, my dad soldered them together, and that held for the duration of the afternoon, which was nice. Of course, when we got home, I was sitting watching TV (Leverage premiere…yum!) when the weld popped. Guess I have to get new ones tomorrow…

As I said, the party was great. My cousin Eve came, and our adopted family from next door to my parents. Lauren ran by with a dozen roses and a card promising to come help me clean house Friday from 10-3 on her way to work. Donna and Keith were there, Julie and her entire crew… All admired Sunshine’s mohawk.

My family has their own unique take on the Happy Birthday Song…

Driving home was an adventure too, as a nasty storm was about to hit as we left, and we got caught in blinding rain with — I think — some hail on the way back to Austin. The cat was very good through the whole trip, but I was hanging on to the grab bar above the door the whole time…

Have my glasses taped together with Scotch tape at the moment, which considering where the break falls is working surprisingly well. I’m glad, because I have been looking forward to Political Animals for weeks and I was afraid I might have to skip it. Luckily, I didn’t, because I really enjoyed it.

But I am wiped out now. See you tomorrow.
